Best of XinKtober 2026
I'm mostly a map drawing guy, but lately I've been trying to add character drawing to the toolbox. I'd love to be able to illustrate more of my own projects. It's also a lot of fun to be able to draw my own (and my players') RPG characters.
Like any new skill, there's a lot to learn. Making people actually look like people requires at least a basic understanding of anatomy, gesture, perspective, texture, shading and so on. And while I have been perusing various figure drawing resources, which has been helpful, there's no shortcut for deliberate practice.
I decided to hop on the Inktober bandwagon this year as a good excuse to draw every day. Not every drawing turned out, but I definitely saw some real improvements over the course of the month.
Still a long way to go, but below are some of the highlights from Xeno & Kraft's first Inktober—the inaugural XinKtober, if you will.
